Dr. Hilary Duncan is a Clinical Psychologist and Member of the Ordre des psychologues de Québec. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Concordia University.
Hilary has extensive training in Neuropsychological assessment, psychotherapy, and rehabilitation psychology. She received her training in rehabilitation psychology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Neuro-Rehabilitation Unit where she worked with patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological disorders.
Hilary’s goal is to help clients and families understand and manage the behavioral, cognitive, and emotional problems associated with injury or illness.
Interventions may include:
- Cognitive rehabilitation techniques to aid and/or compensate for impaired attention, memory, or executive functioning;
- Psychotherapy (that takes into account the client’s cognitive abilities) to address emotional distress like hopelessness, anxiety, and low mood;
- Behavioural strategies to address issues like fatigue, pain management, or impulsivity.
- Most importantly, treatment plans are tailored to the individual. When appropriate and useful , Hilary also works to integrate caregivers and family members.
