Evidence shows that the experience of pain is linked to EEG, or brain wave activity. Teaching patients to alter EEG activity to reflect activity that has been shown to be associated with reduced pain may be promising.

• Chronic pain is associated with pathologically altered brain activity and morphology
Some studies have found abnormalities in the Electrophysiological (brainwave) activity in migraine patients, which suggest that training the brain to alter its electrophysiological activity in certain frequency bands might be effective.
